Tips and tricks to keep your RV or camper in top condition

This months tip:

WATER HEATER TANK

When camping there’s no telling what kind of water a campground may have, well or city water. The minerals contained in the water vary with regions but one thing for certain is if you don’t take the proper precautions you will be buying a complete water heater before its time.

There isn’t a whole lot of maintenance in the first place. The one thing that you can do is to remove the drain plug and install a sacrificial anode rod. The minerals in the water will attack the rod rather than the tank itself prolonging the life of the tank.

When you change the rod each year take the time to run city water pressure through the tank while the bottom drain is open and this will flush out the tank and help extend the life.
